Green Wedding Shoes Feature : Bohemian Indoor Elopement

Janna •

What do you do when it’s the middle of winter/spring in Edmonton and you want to have a Moroccan inspired wedding? You get together with some of the best vendors in the wedding industry and lug a whole set up several flights of stairs to create the most magical and cozy styled elopement. We are so proud of this shoot and of the fact that it got featured in Green Wedding Shoes here. Nicole from Delica Bridal approached Nicole Ashley and us with the opportunity of having our pick of one of the beautiful dresses from Daughters of Simone and then the shoot really grew from there into the images you are seeing here today. Read below for all the vendors and what they contributed to this shoot to help bring our vision to life! Nicole from Delica Bridal provided the stunning dress from Daughters of Simone and the shoot really was built around the vision of the dress. Janine of Fabloomosity created a stunning bridal bouquet and also staged the entire set with extra florals and greenery. She has such an amazing eye for decorating on top of her obvious talent for floral art. Amor with Hunt Amor had a diamond in mind the moment we brought the shoot idea to her. She was able to create a custom engagement ring and matching wedding band with such short notice. She also created the amazing earrings Samantha wore as well as Shawn’s wedding band and cuff links. Neat Rentals provided all of the rugs and furniture that worked so perfectly with our Moroccan theme. They were so kind to also lend us some sheepskins and bronzed accessories. They have the best selection of rental vintage rugs and furniture in Edmonton hands down. We connected with Rubana of Crimson Letters on Instagram and we instantly fell in love with her work in the paper medium. She was so lovely to work with to create some pieces based on our Moroccan theme and mail them all the way to us in Canada. Marie Zydek came and styled our models and assisted in staging and we couldn’t have pulled this off without her styling skills. Simons was gracious enough to lend out the clothing and accessories for this shoot. We got to work with some amazing models from Mode Models: Samantha and Shawn. We kept saying how they looked like Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom during…

Simple Holiday Makeup

Janna •

I wanted to post this simple holiday makeup look that I did on myself that I thought could give everyone some ideas on makeup to wear to a holiday party. I wore this look on the day that Kristina from Inspired by Lynne and Diana from 204 Park rented the Project Lofts to shoot some holiday looks. I joined in along with Aislin of Mr and Mrs L and Breanne who was shooting the content to help out where I could. Kristina snapped some product shots for me and I couldn’t resist having her take a shot of the look that I was wearing too. To me Christmas or Holiday makeup screams for a red lip and this one is compliments of Tom Ford Cherry Lush. To go with the red lip I kept my eyes soft with shades of champagne, bronze and gold using the Charlotte Tilbury cream shadow in Jean as a base all over and her eye shadow palette The Dolce Vita. To frame my eyes I used my new favorite angled brow pencil from Hourglass which I also mentioned here. To add some extra shimmer to my cheekbones and inner corner of my eyes I used the Kevyn Aucoin roll on shadow in Candlelight. To contour and bronze my face I used the Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow as it doesn’t look orange on my fair skin. The star product of this look has to be the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit palette. I used the 2 lightest shades to set my under eye concealer and then the two blush colors mixed together to pull my whole look together. I hope this post gives you some ideas to try out for your holiday parties coming up or for maybe New Years!

Shape Magazine Feature

Janna •

When Nicole told us one of her photo’s from Brittany’s session was going to be in the May Shape magazine we counted the days until the magazine was on the newsstand. We of course ran out and bought several copies to commemorate the moment. Moments like this you want to freeze in time. I mean how cool is it that our work is inside a magazine with Hilary Duff on the cover. hair/makeup: Janna Huget styling: Stefanie Carlson and Janna Huget photo: Nicole Ashley

how to maintain pastel hair

Janna •

Ever since Stefanie magically transform my hair to a dreamy pastel peachy-pink from a red ombre I have been experimenting with a few different products that have helped prolong the color. I figured I’d be gracious and share some of these tips and tricks I discovered for making fun new color last longer! I gathered this knowledge from reading countless hair blogs and from Stefanie (duh, she’s my hair guru!) and then put them to the test on my own hair. Of course these things aren’t going to work for everyone out there but feel free to ask any questions and I can have Stef respond 😉 1. Have a professional get you to a light enough blonde for the pastel color to show.  I would never suggest bleaching your hair yourself and for my really long hair I would not trust anyone but a professional. Stef used Olaplex while bleaching my hair to ensure the strength of my hair. When she did my hair she did two rounds of bleaching my hair with Olaplex to get rid of all the stubborn red left behind before coloring my hair peachy-pink. What is Olaplex you may ask?? Well we have a post here explaining it, but basically it protects you hair during a color or bleaching process. To keep any dryness from the bleaching of all my hair at bay I have been using the take home Olaplex treatment. 2. Wash your hair less and when washing use cold water I have been loving the Bumble and Bumble Pret-a-powder dry shampoo- I can add it to my hair at night and in the morning I awake to fresh hair with some serious Texas volume. I also have been liking the Kardashian Beauty Take 2 Dry Shampoo.  It works in a pinch to absorb oil, give texture and also acts as a sort of hair perfume. Cold water keeps the hair cuticle sealed which means your color is less likely just to rinse out. 3. Use color depositing conditioners and color safe shampoos I create a custom concoction of Davines red conditioner and copper conditioner mixed even parts with my Davines Oi Oil conditioner that is a regular white conditioner so that way I have a soft pink/peach pastel conditioner that I leave on towel dried hair for up to 30 minutes. If your hair is more of a true bubble gum pastel pink you could just use the straight red conditioner mixed…

fall makeup tutorial with a dark lip

Janna •

Now that it is “fall” aka winter here in Edmonton we decided to do an easy fall makeup tutorial featuring THE lip color that we can’t get enough of called Sin. See examples here and here. We cannot stop wearing this color. Since it is a matte lipstick you can go full out and vampy or just use a bit from the bullet on your finger to get a wine stained pout. Check out our latest video tutorial by clicking below and don’t forget to subscribe to our channel for more videos! All the products used in the video to create this look are listed below the video on youtube.
