Ever since Stefanie magically transform my hair to a dreamy pastel peachy-pink from a red ombre I have been experimenting with a few different products that have helped prolong the color. I figured I’d be gracious and share some of these tips and tricks I discovered for making fun new color last longer! I gathered this knowledge from reading countless hair blogs and from Stefanie (duh, she’s my hair guru!) and then put them to the test on my own hair. Of course these things aren’t going to work for everyone out there but feel free to ask any questions and I can have Stef respond đ 1. Have a professional get you to a light enough blonde for the pastel color to show. I would never suggest bleaching your hair yourself and for my really long hair I would not trust anyone but a professional. Stef used Olaplex while bleaching my hair to ensure the strength of my hair. When she did my hair she did two rounds of bleaching my hair with Olaplex to get rid of all the stubborn red left behind before coloring my hair peachy-pink. What is Olaplex you may ask?? Well we have a post here explaining it, but basically it protects you hair during a color or bleaching process. To keep any dryness from the bleaching of all my hair at bay I have been using the take home Olaplex treatment. 2. Wash your hair less and when washing use cold water I have been loving the Bumble and Bumble Pret-a-powder dry shampoo- I can add it to my hair at night and in the morning I awake to fresh hair with some serious Texas volume. I also have been liking the Kardashian Beauty Take 2 Dry Shampoo.  It works in a pinch to absorb oil, give texture and also acts as a sort of hair perfume. Cold water keeps the hair cuticle sealed which means your color is less likely just to rinse out. 3. Use color depositing conditioners and color safe shampoos I create a custom concoction of Davines red conditioner and copper conditioner mixed even parts with my Davines Oi Oil conditioner that is a regular white conditioner so that way I have a soft pink/peach pastel conditioner that I leave on towel dried hair for up to 30 minutes. If your hair is more of a true bubble gum pastel pink you could just use the straight red conditioner mixed…

Since we do so many different things for our work and site we decided to split up our weddings of 2014 and 2014 year in review into two separate posts. Click here to check out all of the lovely brides we had the pleasure of working with in 2014! This past year has definitely been the year of adventures, travel and frequent collaborations with the talented Nicole Ashley, Kristina of Inspired by Lynne and Hunt Amor, and best of all – the new additions to our crew with Selah arriving in July. Scroll down to see what kind of adventures we were up to each month. In January Janna traveled to Cuba to second shoot a wedding with Nicole Ashley as well as style the bride Jazmin’s hair. The full post on her adventure can be viewed here. We then traveled to LA to attend the IMATS conference, aka makeup heaven, there and of course did a post on everything we spent all our $$ on. Janna then traveled to Vancouver with friends to watch Volcano Choir perform and Stefanie stayed back in Edmonton to attend the Swept Bridal show with Kristina and Nicole which Kristina wrote about on her site. In February Stefanie did hair and makeup for a styled shoot that is also featured on our 2014 brides. February seemed to be a month of photo shoots ranging from styled boudoir with our model Brittany, boudoir marathons as well as some maternity and engagement shoots. In every shoot this year with Nicole Ashley we got to use the stunning locally made jewelry by Hunt Amor. March was full of meetings about an upcoming collaboration shoot that then got featured on the Wedluxe blog. All the hard work really paid off and it was amazing working with some of the best in the business. I wanted to take a moment to also acknowledge the beautiful mother/daughter shoot we had the opportunity being a part of with Nicole Ashley-these three beautiful souls Ronna Kayla and Brittany are the types of clients that imact your life and I am so glad to have met them! March also brought an opportunity to attend every woman festival at Lexus south point with our friends Amor (from Hunt Amor) and Nicole Ashley. It was at this event we did our first donation for their silent auction.  Teaming up with Nicole Ashley for hair and makeup in a boudoir marathon- and the…

Now that it is “fall” aka winter here in Edmonton we decided to do an easy fall makeup tutorial featuring THE lip color that we can’t get enough of called Sin. See examples here and here. We cannot stop wearing this color. Since it is a matte lipstick you can go full out and vampy or just use a bit from the bullet on your finger to get a wine stained pout. All the products used in the video to create this look are listed below the video on youtube.

Don’t forget to enter the contest to have free Halloween makeup for the October 24 Halloween Hanger party! This year I decided to take on the challenge of turning our model Megan into an alien. I used the Make Up For Ever Flash Palette as well as the White and Black Chromacakes from MAC to achieve this look. For her “horns” I cut up a plastic necklace then spray painted them a matte black and glued them onto her face with Spirit Glue. Contact us if you would like to book in for Halloween makeup this year! You can also check out some of looks we did last year for Halloween on our site by clicking here.
